Today I want you to watch incredible breathtaking videos so let's skip the talking as we have long incredible and amazing videos to watch!

3) Lovin' You, Baby (Live on KEXP) - Charles Bradley

Ok, I'll start with this amazing man who should be in first position just because of this GIGANTIC voice of his and such a great live performance! But as this post is all about music videos, I'll leave him in third place. BUT, prepare yourself before you start watching this performance. It's a boost of emotion, a shout in your ear, a cry for love from a powerful man. There's emotion in his eyes, there's truth in his words, there's soul in his body, there's love.. oh there's love! KEXP's sessions always have really good videos, I love what they do. But this video is so just special!

Bradley has only been active since 2002, well, ten years now, but when you think he's in his sixties, it's not been that long. But at the same time he's "new", he's commemorating the sounds of the 60's and 70's, the greatest mix of funk, soul and R&B. But where was this man until 2002?? Well, he was a cook for ten years, hitchhiked across the country for many years working in odd jobs and playing occasionally small shows. He finally came back home to Brooklyn where he was known as a James Brown impersonator in local pubs… Until one day the co-founder of Daptone Records heard him singing and called Bradley to rehearse with his band, and while the band were rehearsing Bradley used to create lyrics at the same time. And that's how he recorded his album!

2) Hémisphère - Paradis (Dir. Sacha Barbin)

I didn't know this band until I watched this music video. They're an electronic pop duo from Paris and they're one year old! The new label "Beats In Space" released the debut of the band in September last year and since then there's not much written about them (not in English at least) but they have a couple of really good videos. A tip for bands, really: Google the name you want to use first, always, if you want to call your band "Paradis" and you are a French band, google it first and you will only find "Vanessa Paradis" (and by consequence all love stories with Johnny Depp), doesn't make it easy for us to find you (but maybe that's what you want...). But if you really want your band to be called "Paradis", fine but at least write an "about" section on your website or write about the band on "Last.Fm"... So anyways, all I got to know about this band is that they are a duo, they make soft songs made of deep-house, electro, house and fresh pop sounds and very important: I know they have a really nice friend who directs great videos!

This music video really got me, you start watching and you think "damn, seven minutes!" but then it keeps hold of you and you want to watch till the end. I love it because it's like a short film, I just adore when they do it! Writing a short film for a music video adds another mood to the music. It's a really smart piece, they explored a lot of characters and still we can understand all the feelings of the main character. Just the way that the film is put together in the end is genius. I'm really pleased with colors, camera work, edition and script. It's funny but I like the music much more with the video… I guess it happens sometimes!

1) Breezeblocks - Alt-J (∆) (Dir. Ellis Bahl)

Let's talk about our number one! We're so excited about Alt-J (∆)! We love this new band and they did a REALLY COOL music video for one of their best tracks! First let me tell you about Alt-J (∆) (yeah exactly, when you press ALT+J on your Mac you end up with this nice triangle ∆!! (But you better use lower case!) SO ABOUT THE BAND, okay, they come from Cambridge and they all met at Leeds University and are together since then. Their sound is so rich and full, with lots of different layers that really impressed me for a debut album! They are very clever in a general way, quite smart with lyrics also and singing, I love the way they know how to use their voices! I am really happy to see how completely aware they are of sound and how they measure all that. I like to call them the new-architecture-indie-music with a combination of beautiful voices.

The music video has a great tool that when used in a smart way, can blow people away. That's the case of this video and the tool I'm talking about is called "reverse". And to use it, is not as simple as it appears to be. It needs perfect choreography, timing, great script and lots of rehearsing. The story couldn't be better to be edited in a reverse way. The actors are so good, great choice! Art direction also did a great job but thumbs up for the editor, what an amazing piece of work! I totally believe the edition made the music much more powerful and interesting to the ears, so we can understand the broken beats of the music. SUCH A GREAT JOB. Really.
